What is Top Level Domain (TLD) ?

TLD is the acronym used for top-level domain. It’s the last segment of a domain name after the final dot.

A great example of a TDL is: .com

The IANA officially recognizes three types of TLDs:

  • gTLD – Generic Top-Level Domains
  • ccTLD – Country Code Top-Level Domains
